Away, grey!

Here in the Northern hemisphere it is becoming cold and grey. And I don’t need to tell anyone what an odd year it has been, but hope is on the horizon. And these new additions to my shop is all about that. Whilst most of us have not been able to travel far this year, we’re lucky to have memories of when we could, and at some point in the not too distant future, we should be able to feel the sun on our faces and the sand between our toes again. Let’s celebrate that.

This new colourway of my hibiscus design came about not so long ago, when I was missing Cape Town, which I wasn’t able to visit as planned, and fondly remembering balmy beach summer evenings, and that beautiful light that envelopes everything in an orange glow just before the sun sets.

I have also come to view the humble hibiscus flower as the ultimate tropical beach flower. It features on so many surf designs and seems to pop up in places that have that warmth and beach spirit, so seeing it transports me to those balmy beach scenes. I always liken it to retro California surf movies, do you remember the Endless Summer film poster from the 80s? Right there.

This design also comes as a print, as well as a tea towel – these makes such great little gifts.

I hope this design does for you what it has been doing for me the past few months. Things are going to get better.

Hang in there, and stay safe.
